On the afternoon of Sunday 28th October we met our host David Ross in the railyard in Drimoleague for a walk on the "Drimoleague Heritage Loop". By the time we reached the top of the rock we were feeling damp and cold after a good heavy shower of rain, but refreshments were on hand provided by Davids wife Elisabeth, afternoon tea with home made scones with jam and clotted cream, ginger cake and a blazing fire. After our break Elisabeth took over as guide explaining the history of the area and stories behind the seats along the walk and the managers bridge.Good company good food and good walking I'll be back. To David and Elisabeth thank you for a most enjoyable afternoon.

My new husband and I just returned from this fabulous country of Ireland. Walking with David was an *** experience of sky and green and sea and wind. I probably should wait until I have had a chance to process all that we learned and enjoyed but I might miss communicating the richness of our experience there. One of the first stories I remember my mother reading to me was "Little Pilgrim's Progress"...over and over while walking over the wet tufts glimpses of that story came to mind. I so enjoyed meeting the Irish people along the way. What a hospitable bunch of good hearted people.

One day the thought crossed my mind "why not try walking from Drimoleague back to Bantry"? Two days later I found myself walking through the lovely scenery of West Cork and after more than three hours I realized "this is quite a challenge". But finally I really enjoyed walking and being surrounded by nature for a couple of hours without mobile phone or any other technology. By the way the walks are in good shape and I am looking forward to see you David and Elizabeth again at "the Top of the Rock".

David recently led a group from YMCA on a walking retreat in the countryside near Drimoleague. The warmth of the welcome, the stories of the local area and the great food at the end of the walk will stay with us for a long time! We would certainly hope to repeat the experience again!
