Welcome to West Cork Walking. We are here to enable you to join us HERE in West Cork for the walk of your lifetime… a seven day odyssey where you will walk the full length of the Sheep’s Head Way, then join the ancient St Finbarr’s Pilgrim Path, leading to your goal: the 6th century island hermitage of St Finbarr at Gougane Barra. On this site you will experience a “taster” through photographs, video clips and our ten audio programmes which highlight the music, heritage and folklore of this place.
Even if you cannot make the journey at present, we hope our website will enable you to enjoy West Cork from a distance. ...But to actually come… to breath the balmy air; to see the sun setting over Hungry Hill, to follow in the rugged footsteps of St Finbarr; to feel the soft rain as you walk among the mountain sheep on your descent to Gougane Barra… What more could you ask for in God’s creation?
COME and bring a friend. We will arrange for you to stay with local people in Failte Ireland registered accommodation. We will provide guides for three of the seven days. On Tuesday you will join us as a group in our farmhouse for dinner, and on Wednesday David will be your guide for the first half of the St Finbarr’s Pilgrim Way.
